The FHL Drawing Board

First we fixed the web page.
Then we fixed FHL support.
Then we fixed ordering and fulfillment.
Now for the fun stuff - the reason I got involved - to improve FHL itself.

Much speculation has been made about FHL 2.0 and it's featureset. I haven't committed to any official Plan of Record, since this is a part time affair, and delivery dates and Plans of Records are too much like stress. Also, since I couldn't guarantee we could meet any deadlines, why set false expectations?

To let you in on a few things that we have been doing I thought I'd add it here.

FHL-X

We are pre-alpha testing some new code containing several new features:

Choice of 2 or 3 divisions per conference.
- Works very well right now. No know issues with 6-division leagues, however, conversion from 6 to 4 divisions is untested.
FHLX-3divsperconf.jpg (35372 bytes)
Completely rewritten scheduler, including support for unbalanced divisional alignments.
- Still some issues with wierd schedules but we should have those fixed.
FHLX-Schedule.jpg (43129 bytes)
More statistics including takeaway-giveaways, faceoffs won-lost, blocks, passes compeleted.
- Output routines requires some tweaking.
Extended boxscores detailing every play in the game.
- Still fairly repetitive, but very kewl to see blow by blow fights! You will need a new hard drive for 80K boxscores... and they are still black and white.
Better real-time simulation reporting.
- It's now a pleasure to watch games as they are simulated - need a toggle switch because it does slow down the sim engine.
FHLX-Simulate.jpg (93690 bytes)
Better roster and lineup setting feedback.
- now to port it to the GM editor code.
FHLX-SetRoster.jpg (67533 bytes)
Support for single point overtime losses.
- Output routines require some tweaking but FHL records the stats.
Better support for farm leagues.
- still early, so I'll be nebulous here for now, OK?
Reduced number of bugs.
- there are many to kill but we're finding them.
Support for 16 games per game day.
- Now leagues of up to 32 teams can have a full slate of games each day.
Improved Add Player functionality

On the Bubble

Divisional playoffs for all alignments.
Integrated XtraStats
Command line interface
Anything else I don't feel like doing.

Alpha-Beta-Ship

We are now almost ready to build an alpha version. We will select a few testers to ship to, and then a more widespread beta.

Once the beta program has passed we will release FHL-X as an upgrade to FHL 1.x. Confirmed, registered users of FHL 1.x will receive a discount on their upgrade purchase.

Please DO NOT request to be a beta tester. We are active in the community and will approach league commissioners based on experience with FHL demonstrated on the the FHL Forum over the last two years. The way to guarantee you won't be asked is to ask.
